Masking paper tape is not very obvious, but you can find it usually in life. On the desk of the ordinary official workers, there may be one or two boxes of masking paper tape; while moving, masking paper tape is used for sealing the box; the insulation masking paper tape can be used for wrapping wire and plug; for wound, the doctor also uses masking paper tape; for operation, the beautification masking paper tape is also used for wound recovery. According to the statistical data, it shows that the annual output value of masking paper tape in the world is USD40-50 billion, and is not less than that of the semi-conductor industry.
　　Ordinary masking paper tapes, based on the purposes, can be classified into three categories, namely tape for daily use, tape for industrial purpose and tape for medical purpose. The structures of these masking paper tapes are similar, and generally consist of two parts-base material and adhesive. Based on the sample characteristics, the base materials may be polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (sports), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyester (terylene) or polyimide (PI) film. Some special-purpose masking paper tape may use the metal film (such as copper, aluminum and so on) as the base materials. On these base materials, adhesive is coated, and then it becomes the masking paper tape.
　　The ordinary adhesive is pressure sensitive because the masking paper tape can adhere to the article by pressing with one hand or other pressurization way in use. The ordinary adhesive systems include acrylic, epoxy resin and PI system. Generally, the adhesive is prepared to be fluid, and then is coated on the base material to produce the masking paper tape. Masking paper tapes have many varieties, they have different functions and can meet different actual demands. Thus, masking paper tapes of different purpose are produced. However, adhesion property is still the most fundamental requirement for these masking paper tapes. There are different requirements for other characteristics based on the purposes. Only several fairly special characteristics are described briefly here.
